NATURE

Bring your binoculars. Hundreds of species of birds including eagles, osprey and herons can be spotted especially during migration periods as Stoney Lake is on a migration route. Deer, bear, beaver, coyote, otter and the occasional moose may cross your path.

You don't have to go to exotic locations to see animals at home and in their environment. One kayaker on the Indian River tells of a beaver lifting himself out of the water using the bow of the kayak to get a good look at who was sharing the river with him. Not all the wildlife is so "up close and personal" but a hike through any of the forests will give you a new appreciation of the animals that share our planet.
